 What is a map?
 A map is simply a plan o the ground on paper. The plan is usuallydrawn as the land would be seen rom directly above.
 A map will normally have the ollowing eatures:The names o important places and locations.Standard symbols to show the location o key landmarks and eatures.A key, or a legend, to explain what the symbols on the map mean.A scale and scale bar to allow you to measure distance on the map andconvert it to the actual distance on the land.A grid system o lines to allow you to pinpoint your location, orientateyour map to the land and quickly estimate distances.Contour lines to show relie (the height o the ground above sea level)and the steepness o the land.

There are some basic eatures that most maps will include:
