Brochure
Comm 130; section 3 Professor: Julie Peterson December 6, 2013 Description: Create a brochure using design principles and techniques taught. Process: Using Adobe InDesign, I created the layout of my brochure. Ruler guides and correct measurements helped keep me on track of the vision of the brochure. I kept the outside simple so that I could draw attention to the inside. I selected the images that I wanted and placed them where they could be seen on the inside and the out. On the inside, I was keeping the body text united while wrapping it around one image. Using Photoshop I manipulated a photo by cutting out the background of the cupcake. Program(s) / Tools used: Adobe InDesign; Photoshop

MOntage
Comm 130; section 3 Professor: Julie Peterson Oct 25, 2013 Description: Create a montage using to or more images. Fade the photos together. Include a text and a filter. Process: First I selected my images from online. Then I opened Photoshop and cropped photo to 11 X 8.5. After selecting my images and placing them where I wanted them, I began masking my photos together. Then I selected the sponge filter for the background. Using the saturation tool, I increased saturation on my background. For my photo, I decreased the highlights just a little. With my title, I matched the color with colors from the background. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop

Imaging
Comm 130; section 3 Professor: Julie Peterson October18, 2013 Description: A photo taken by myself after learning photography principles, then edited in Photoshop. Requirements were 6X6, desaturated, and either had a filter or colorization. Process: Applying the thirds principle, I chose my picture. Using Photoshop I cropped my photo to 6X6, then I used different tools to add detail to my photo. I selected everything except for the main focus leaves, and desaturated that subject. Then I selected the focus leaves and added a crosshatch filter to them. Programs/Tools Used: Photoshop; Crosshatch Filter; selection tool

Logos
Comm 130; section 3 Professor: Julie Peterson November 1, 2013 Description: Using Adobe Illustrator, Create 3 different, diverse logos for a specific company. Process: First logo: I chose contrasting fonts. Using the pen tool I created a rolling pin. Second logo: Using the shape tool I created a cookie and a contrast background to read the font. Third logo: Using the shape tool I created a background, as well as a cupcake. I contrasted the font by manipulating their sizes. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator; pen tool, shape tool

Business Card
Comm 130; section 3 Professor: Julie Peterson November 8, 2013 Description: Using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, create a logo for a business card. Process: In Adobe Illustrator, I used the shape tool to create my logo, as well as the paint brush and pencil. In an outline 3.5X2 rectangle I designed my business card. In InDesign I implemented the same themes from my business card for my letterhead. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign

Letterhead
Comm 130; section 3 Professor: Julie Peterson November 8, 2013 Description: Using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign, create a logo for a Letterhead. Process: In Adobe Illustrator, I used the shape tool to create my logo, as well as the paint brush and pencil. In InDesign I implemented the same themes from my business card for my letterhead. I created a watermark of colorful rectangles, and lowered their opacity to 23%. I made sure that both my business card and letterhead had all necessary information. Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign

Flier
Comm 130; section 3 Professor: Julie Peterson October 4, 2013 Description: Using Adobe InDesign, we were to create this flier for a fictional Graduation Conference. The specifications for this assignment was to use an image, a logo, and certain text. Process: Creating a Flier required more attention to detail than i realized it would. So easily someone can insert an image and paste in text, but if its not aligned with anything, it can distract you from the professionalism of the piece. Its important to ask yourself What do I want to stand out the most?, and then have your eyes be grabbed by its placement. Also, Logos and such dont necessarily need to be large, but they just need to be noticed. Proximity is important, especially dealing with related information- you dont want someones eyes to be bouncing all over the page looking for information. The InDesign program worked successfully because you have access to many tools which allow you to create your own idea of a great piece. Program(s) / Tools used: Adobe InDesign

Web Design
Comm 130; section 3 Professor: Julie Peterson November 22, 2013 Description: Create a web page that describes the process of a logo I personally designed. Process: Using HTML and CSS, opened in Text Wrangler, I formatted my webpage. With my html I inserted all of the text I wanted displayed on my page. Also, I made sure the headings were correct, as well as the bullet points. Using CSS I designed the colors and style of how my website would appear. In photoshop I selected the colors that I wanted, and simply copied the code to the CSS appropriately. Padding needed adjusted to give the text good space, and I selected a font that was suitable for the webpage. Programs/Tools Used: Text Wrangler

Comm 130; section 3 Professor: Julie Peterson October 10, 2013 Description: Creating a flier for a pretend fundraiser. This fundraiser needed to include a benefactor and a beneficiary. Also, it needed to make sense and be easy to read. All Design Principles needed to be applied. Also, it was required to have a scanned image for this project. The complete process of the flier was to be designed in Microsoft Word. Process: Scanning the image was very detailed. We needed just enough pixels for this to appear in an 8X10 format without looking pix elated. My image was a full sheet on a magazine, so my resolution was set to 150 pixels per inch. I was able to PhotoShop my scanned photo, and then paste it to Word. I then began working with the design of the image to create contrast and bold lines that draw your eyes to the title. From online I downloaded the font I wanted which suited the Halloween theme. Using proximity I put the necessary information together. Program(s) / Tools used: Microsoft Word, PhotoShop
