Every Tuesday in February This musical tells the story of adventurous Broccolis journey out of the vegetable crisper and onto the refrigerators higher shelves. When Good Broccoli Goes Bad playfully encourages youth to make healthy food choices.
Feb 13th and Feb 27th Through dramatic monologue, poetry and song, Ms. Cynthia Maddox captures the spirit of Ms. Tubman, giving students a powerful glimpse of the charismatic life of Lady Moses. Ms. Tubman, whose undaunted dedication to a better society, has emphatically impacted the course of history.
Feb 6th and Feb 20th A musical narrative play that touches on the life and contributions of civil rights leader Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This play focuses on Dr. Kings commitment to education and nonviolence, and his demonstration of love and courage.
Storytelling by Iya Fatola Master Storyteller Feb 12th With wise and witty songs and tales, Iya Fatola brings new life to the ancient treasures of African mythology. Iya Fatola takes us back to a time when elders were respected and children were greatly valued, all while learning the importance of truth, respect, humility and compassion.
Feb 7th and Feb 28th From the continent of Africa to the United States of America, Master Illusionist, Walter King, Jr. (THE MAGIC OF THE SPELLBINDER), presents an educational and exciting program of African American history that has never been told before: THE LEGACY OF BLACK MAGICIANS.
Feb 14th This performance is committed to educating young people about African heritage through the drumming, song, and dances of West Africa. Young people will be invited to actively participate in connecting with our African past through music and dance.
All Programs except for When Good Broccoli Goes Bad are designed for K-12 and can accommodate a total of 450. All programs begin at 10:30am. Please note that all performances are 45-60 minutes long and cost $7 per person.
