How to Play
: Check off each block when you hear selected buzz words during a meeting, seminar or phonecall. When you get five blocks horizontally, vertically or diagonally, stand up and shout, "(selectedepithet)!"
Buzz-Word Selections
: the playing board illustrated below contains a variety of buzz-words commonlyfound in Eastern U.S. urban educational establishments. You should feel free to replace them with any youfind particularly overused or mishandled in your particular situation.
Selecting an Epithet:
One has, of course, the vast wealth of English vulgarity at one's disposal. But tact andconsideration for the squeamishness of others might bring one to consider words less likely to provokesocial opprobrium. Latinate words, in particular, sound learned, even, possibly, laudatory. Players mightcompete with one another in choosing epithets rare and erudite, exploring, for example, Greek roots of particular descriptive appropriateness for the presentation at hand. One interesting variation is to use theoffending buzzword as the epithet: speakers find this confusing and tend to interpret it as approbation,thereby intensifying the game.
