the class period on the day the seminar is held.Seminar preparation will generally consist of a set of seminar questions and answers based on related readings. Eachstudent should refer to the guidelines for seminar questions in completion of the assignment.Seminar questions/preparation and participation will be graded as a test grade or a quiz grade depending on the text.The preparation portion and the participation portion of the seminar will each comprise half of the overall seminargrade.

Seminar Preparation:
25 Typed set of seminar questions includes opening question, core questions with answers, and a closingquestion. All questions are relevant to the topic and properly constructed. Answers address questionsand include textual support with citations. Full explanation is achieved between analysis and text.22 As above, but may be missing citations, some textual support or connection between analysis and textmay not be fully clear in some cases.20 Evidences a good faith effort to construct seminar questions/answers, missing some analysis or textualsupport; some questions may not be properly constructed.17 Several format and/or omission errors. Analysis and/or textual support needs to be strengthened or isunclear/missing ins several cases. Questions may not be properly formatted. You are advised to seeinstructor for guidance.15 Insufficient effort. You are expected to see the instructor for extra help prior to completing the next setof seminar questions.10 Incomplete assignment. You are expected to see the instructor for extra help prior to completing thenext set of seminar questions. Any subsequent assignment in this category will receive a zero.0 Assignment not prepared, not turned in on time, or copied.
Seminar Participation:
25 Fully participates in the seminar by making a (1) constructive comment that is fully supported bytextual evidence and fully explained. Advances discussion.20 Participates in seminar by making a constructive comment that is fully explained but that is not clearlysupported by textual evidence.18 Participates in the seminar but does not make a constructive comment. Student actively listens andtakes notes.15 Maximum grade possible for any student who meets any of the above requirements but does not havewritten preparation for the seminar.
