WHERE TO GO: Trinity Hot Spots!
Dear class of 1T3,Not only are you about to kick off your adult life at Canada’s finest learning institution, but  you are also going to be living in the best and biggest city in the country. Toronto is the safest city of its size, the most diverse city in the world, and now it’s the place you can call home. TheUpper Years have been working this summer to compile this list of Trinity HOTSPOTS for  you. It’s a guide to local bars, restaurants, bakeries… all the places that we frequent whenwe’re not hitting the books. We tried to include something for everyone: whether you’relooking for a coffee shop to spend an afternoon, a bar that serves heavenly fries until 2am, or a gallery to check out local artwork. Trinity prides itself on tradition—and this guide will show  you the traditions that we’ve made. Hopefully, in your four years here, you’ll get out into thecity and start some traditions of your own.Good luck this fall, Jennah Khaled, 1T1“We’re here for a good time, not a long time, so have a good time” -- Trooper
Cheap Eats!

Cora Pizza – 656a Spadina Ave. –
10am – 4am.
Cora Pizza is just one store north of itsnemesis, Papa Ceo's. Both have developed afiercely loyal customer base (Trin is loyal toCora's!), consisting mainly of starving studentsfrom U of T. The slices are huge, and areguaranteed to satisfy, and for only $4 you get a lotof bang for your buck. Cora's is a perfect latenight snack stop-over, and is a convenientalternative to generic fast food chains on Bloor…and they deliver! –

PitaQ -- 750 Spadina Avenue --
Weekday hours: 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 a.m.Weekend hours: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 a.m.
If you crave delicious Shawarma, Pita Q is ultraconvenient. Just a 5 minute walk from Trin, it serves hot chicken, beef, or falafel sandwiches for under $5. A staple of the U of T diet, it’s undoubtedly somewhere you’ll end up at least once thisyear, when weather, lack of funds or sheer laziness dictate your meal choices. –

New Ho King – 416 Spadina Ave --
Daily:
11:30am – 4am Friday / Saturday: 11:30am – 5am
New Ho King offers cheap, decentquality Chinese food to sate your late nighthunger. Known for its Late Night menu, NewHo is especially useful for frigid winter nights when nobody wants to leave thecomfort of residence. Don’t expect finedining here, but when you’re hankering for some cheap Chinese, their ridiculous varietyof $5 meals can’t be beat.

Gabby’s
–
194 Bloor Street West --
Gabby’sis a great place to get decent quality food and drink for good prices. It has several flavours of wings that are at a discount price Monday and Wednesday, making it an ideal post-Lit venue. Nachos are good and are in a sizeable portion, and can be combined with a pint of Canadianwhenever a hockey game is on TV for quite a low price. There is also a good selection of beerson tap (I recommend Rickard’s White). For nice days/nights, Gabby’s has several outside tables.Inside, there are tables that comfortably fit two, four, six, and eight. Although I’ve never takenadvantage of this and cannot speak to its quality, for larger groups, there is a good-sized areadownstairs that includes a couple of couches (this has to be booked in advance). It seems that thiswould be an ideal place to have some kind of party or large event. Finally, service is generally pretty good. The food and drink don’t take long to be served, and most of the staff is quitefriendly. You will require ID to be allowed in, although I stress that ID from obscure locations isseldom questioned… All in all, a good place to chill out and have a beer and a snack.--

Casual Sit-Down
New Generation Sushi – 493 Bloor Street West –
Recently, I had a friend sit down andcalculate how much he had spent at New Generation – or New Gen, as the kids call it—over theyears he had spent at U of T. The startling figure that resulted surprised no one, as this Annexsushi place is considered just as much a part of Trinity College as Strachan Hall or the JCR.In fact, the servers and delivery people know many Trin students by name. Headout to Bloor for their delicious sashimi, or order for pickup anddelivery. From their handrolls to their tempura, each dishwill be your new favorite. New Generation Sushi’s bento boxes are the perfect size for one person— but the “New Gen Bento Box”is perfect for sharing with your like-minded, sushi loving friends. Never triedsushi before? There are plenty of vegetarian or teriyaki options for the lessadventurous. Before long, you’ll findyourself taking the plunge and ordering surf clam, eel, and sea urchin. –
