STATEMENT FROM MAYOR JENNINGS ON THE RETIREMENT OFALBANY POLICE CHIEF, JAMESTUFFEY
Albany, NY – I have respectfully accepted the letter of retirementfrom Albany Police Chief, James Tuffey.On behalf of the citizens of Albany, I want to thank Chief Tuffey forhis many years of service as both a Police Officer and, mostrecently, as Chief. Under his leadership, overall crime hassignificantly decreased and many new initiatives have beenimplemented in the Department. Chief Tuffey’s passion for andcommitment to his position have been exemplary.I wish him continued success in the future.Starting today, I will begin a national search for a new PoliceChief, one who will continue our commitment to modernization of the force, enhanced community policing, and increased publicsafety—all for the benefit of the citizens and visitors to our greatand diverse Capital City.
