Thisfieldmanual(FM)isintendedtohelpcompany-levelleadersunderstandtheprinciplesandtechniquesofcamouflage,concealment,anddecoys(CCD).Toremainviable,allunitsmustapplyCCDtopersonnelandequipment.Ignoringathreat'sabilitytodetectfriendlyoperationsonthebattlefieldisshortsightedanddangerous.FriendlyunitsenhancetheirsurvivabilitycapabilitiesiftheyarewellversedinCCDprinciplesandtechniques.CCDisequalinimportancetomarksmanship,maneuver,andmission.Itisanintegralpartofasoldier'sduty.CCDencompassesindividualanduniteffortssuchasmovement,light,andnoisediscipline;littercontrol;dispersal;anddeceptionoperations.Eachsoldier'sactionsmustcontributetotheunit'soverallCCDposturetomaximizeeffectiveness.IncreasedsurvivabilityisthegoalofaCCDplan.AunitcommandermustencourageeachsoldiertothinkofsurvivabilityandCCDassynonymousterms.TrainingsoldierstorecognizethiscorrelationinstillsagreaterappreciationofCCDvalues.Ametricconversionchartisprovidedin
