T
he Annual Children
s Christmas Party held December, 14th was just awesome!

We had 33 kids attend this year, which is quite a good turnout. Thank you to both the Aerie and Auxiliary for their kind donations to make this annual event happen!

There were arts and crafts to keep the kids busy, lunch of chicken nuggets and French fries, Officer Lumpy again made his fantastic balloon creations and of course... Santa Claus and the Grinch made an appearance. I think that mean ol
Grinch even scared a couple of the children. But all was well once the kids received their gifts from Jolly old Saint Nick.

I would like to thank the many elves who made the party a huge success. Mollie Haukap, Jan Van Court, Larry and Sherri Luke, Diane Bals and Kristina Todd wrapped all those gifts Santa Claus sent down from the North Pole. Mary Lou Wilkerson, Sheila Valentine and Diane Bals worked their butts off in the kitchen. Worth President Zane and Worthy Treasurer Jason helped wherever needed. And many thanks to all whom helped clean up –

we even had quite a few of the parents helping out. We appreciate you all. And last but not least, my cohort in this whole thing, Dolores Anderson –

this wouldn
t have been as good as it was without your help! Thank you all.

Linda Fittro Madam President/Christmas Party Chairman

Worthy President’s Message

Greeting Aerie Brothers and Sisters,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! I hope you all had the happiest of holidays and the merriest of memories were made! We are now in 2014 and wonder with anticipation as to what this new year will bring . . .

The first thing that it brings is the PWP Crab Feed on the 18th. Tickets are on sale in the bar, for $30 apiece. This is probably going to be the bargin of the year and your attendance will looked forward to and your taste buds will thank you!

As of this writing, King of Hearts is
 STILL
going. The jackpot is growing weekly, and while I don't want to quote a number, it is rather large. Please come, have a beverage with your fellow Eagles, play a couple of bucks and who knows. . .maybe those holiday bills that are due to arrive soon might just be a little easier to deal with!

As of this writing, we also have our District 5 meeting at 1pm on the 19th of January. This date also happens to be the NFC/AFC Championship games
-
Times and dates are not scheduled for the games yet, nor are the teams. BUT
-
please stop by and be counted!

In February
-
the 13th, we will be hosting the State Worthy President, and the State Madam President. Please stay tuned for details. I find it interesting to meet them and learn about their home Aeries and Auxiliaries, and of course the charities they serve. Please make time to come and give them a proper 2643 welcome!

We are now almost into the dark heart of winter here in the Great Pacific Northwest. It is easy to tuck into our  blankets and snuggle up with a good book and a nice cup of something warm. It is just as easy to come up and so-cialize with your brothers and sisters. For the families who may be reading this, please come up to the club and enjoy karaoke on a Friday night (my daughter
-
9 and son
-
6) absolutely LOVE to get up there and belt out a few tunes. Sunday breakfasts are ALWAYS delicious and a fantastic way to feed the family. If you haven't been to Obie's steak night
-
you should remedy that this month. The food is incredible, the camaraderie is great and you  just never know who you may run into.

As the days are short and dark, and most likely rainy it is
so
easy to stay in and cope with our winter, we all turn a little robotic this time of year :) But I implore you, please take a Tuesday evening
-
the first and third Tuesdays of the month at 7:30 specifically. Come to the club and attend an Aerie meeting. Generally our club initiates new members on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Come and meet our newest members. Welcome them and make them feel at home, as we ALL feel at home in our beloved Aerie.

 Yours in Brotherhood,

Zane Fitterer

2014! Wow! Remember when everyone thought the world was going to end in 2000? Obviously not! Hope every-one had a fabulous Christmas and New Year
s. I know I did, and am exhausted now. Love the holiday season, but am always so happy when it
s over.

We lost a good friend and officer in December. Sue Scharff passed on December 16
th
after a long battle with can-cer. She had friends and family surrounding her as she moved on. At least now she is pain free. I
d like to thanks the sisters of the Auxiliary for their help with Sue during her battle, especially Sunshine Toledo and Shirley Stub- ben. They helped make her life a little easier at the end. I will miss you Sue –

until we meet again.

The PWP Crab Feed is January 18

January
s District 5 meeting is scheduled to be held at West Seattle on Sunday the 19th. The District Deputies are looking into rescheduling the meeting to January 26th since the AFC/NFC football playoffs are on the 19th. Please stay tuned for updates on the date change.
