Characteristics of Hell:

1. Hell is a place of unquenchable fire.

His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gatheringhis wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire." Mt.3:12

"And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth" Mt. 13:42

"The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of hiskingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; and shall cast them intoa furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth," Mt. 13:41, 42

If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out.

2. Hell is a place of memory and remorse.

3. Hell is a place of thirst.

4. Hell is a place of misery and pain.

"The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascendant up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night…" Rev. 14:10, 11

5. Hell is a place of frustration and anger.

"And shall cast them into a furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth" Mt. 13:42" He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where therewill be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Mt. 24:51

6. Hell is a place of separation.

He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. He whoovercomes will not be hurt at all by the second death." Rev. 2:11“The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone's name was not found written in thebook of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.” Rev 20:14-15But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral,those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in thefiery lake of burning sulfur. 7. Hell is a place of undiluted divine wrath.

Rev. 14:10

8. Hell is a place originally prepared for Satan and his hosts.

" Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, intothe eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." Mt. 25:41

For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to

hell

, puttingthem into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment; 2 Peter 2:3-5

9. Hell is a place created for all eternity.

"And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some toeverlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt“

Dan. 12:2

"And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into lifeeternal'' Mt. 25:46

"Even as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities about them in like manner, givingthemselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for anexample, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire“
