 This presentation is only intended as a means of assessing

the conclusions presented in an MCPS PowerPoint
Presentation available at

-2009-07-17.ppt
 In keeping with the approach taken in the MCPS
presentation, this analysis is restricted to percentages of
students scoring Proficient or higher
 All results given here are in terms of average scores. These
reflect a wide range of student performance. Some Black
students score above the average for White students and
some White students score below the average for Black
students. MCPS does not provide detailed information on
variations in student performance (standard deviation, etc,)

The MCPS cost-per-pupil is the highest in the state...

Less “wealthy” districts, such as Baltimore County , have shown a

downward trend in the “gap” ….

The “gap” has shown a statewide downward trend …

There is absolutely no published accounting of how the additional

dollars are spent by MCPS ….

There are no benchmarks, measures, levels, or trends that reflect

how effectively these additional resources are used or what results
they have achieved …

Don’t we owe it to OUR CHILDREN to make sure that OUR money is

spent wisely on THEIR education?
