Accounting is oten reerred to as the “Languageo Business.” However, careers in accountingextend ar beyond prot-oriented enterprisesto governments, non-prot agencies, and othertypes o organizations. In more traditional roles,accountants perorm audits, prepare taxes,and compile and analyze nancial statements.Perhaps surprisingly, accountants also do a loto other things, including orensic investigations,valuation services, inormation system audits,and internal audits and reviews. The range oopportunities is wide and diverse.At Northern State University there are twoprograms available: the 4-year Bachelor oScience program and the 150-hour ProessionalAccountancy program. Both programs preparestudents or entry into accounting careers, but tobecome CPAs, candidates will need to completethe 150-hour Proessional Accountancy program.Students majoring in accounting must alsocomplete business core requirements and meetSchool o Business exit requirements.

• Complete a minimum of 30 semester hours of course work
in the School of Business at Northern State University.
Acceptance of course work completed at other colleges anduniversities will be evaluated by the Dean.
