The Off Centre Fed Dipole for 40m to 10M as built by ZS1JHG
This antenna is an excellent multiband antenna which does not require anantenna tuner if used on the harmonic bands. W6SAI Bill Orr in his HF Antenna Handbook gives full details of theperformance from 40m to 10m.The design of the 4:1 balun used in my example is detailed in Building Baluns for wire antennasand beams inwww.scribd.com/zs1jhg. An RF choke is needed to prevent or reduce common modecurrents passing down the feedline. Directly after the 4:1 balun, I slid 7 ferrite cores over the coaxand covered with heat-shrink tubing. The 6 to 7 turn 6inch diameter coax coil will also work as an RFchoke. The feedline tap point is at 20.5% from one end which gives a good match to 200ohms on 40m to10m.The antenna is built as per the example below being 68 feet long and fed at 14 feet from one end.Matched by the 4:1 balun and RF choke.
