I always felt that the solution to humankinds problems were founded on a spiritual and altruistic plane. The wonderful dynamic of an uselfish concern for others and a healthy purposeful self care is the essence of a spirituality. Unfortunately though, many people have become selfish. All human beings possess an instinct or natural desire to have emotional and material security, to be loved, and to have an important place in society. It's when an individual obsesses over these desires do they then lose the ability to have a concern for others and become selfish. They lose sight of the consequences of their actions on others. They view every event or situation within the context of how it affects only themselves. This "sickness" does not only afflict individuals but societies as well. The question is, "How can we stem the tide of this selfishness?" Lou Petrone
