To calculate your net worth, simply list all the things you "own" on the left. Then list all that you "owe" (your debts) on the right.
At the top, total up each column and subtract the liabilities from the assets. That's it! There's your net worth calculation.
Tips:
1. Remember to list the current market value for each asset. This is a number that you are confident you could sell your home, car, etc. for.
2. Use net worth to determine where you're at financially. Don't compare yourself to others. Just use this number to determine whether you're moving ahead or going backwards.
3. Calculate your net worth at the end of every month.
