but now...well, you might say I’m on theproverbial “Easy Street”.Once things started to roll –money-wise, the

rst thing I didwas march down to the localdealership and pick out any carI wanted. On the Cerritos AutoMall lot, I saw it and I had tohave it. Knowing that moneywas no longer an issue I walkedup to the salesman and said,“write up the contract on that’98 Ford...I’m taken her home.”It was $5,000, but I didn’t care – I was a publisher and moneywas

ow, but by the time yearthree and four rolled around, Iwas making hundreds of dollarsevery month. It was awesome. Imean, sometimes not everyonepaid on time, so when thathappened it wasn’t always in thehundreds, but lots of times it wasthat much.Not long after that I took on alittle side-work, which made meeven more hundreds and soon Iwas spending my winnings ontons of stuff including two-dayvacations over on the CatalinaIslands and Redondo Beach.It was sick – the Harbor Patrolguy would come up to the boatand say “how long you staying?”I’d rip out a crisp $50 bill, snap itloudly and say in my most richestand condescending tone, “Howlong will this

I can’t lie - all thatmoney was going to my head.Today, I’m still rich, still makinghundreds of dollars every singlemonth, but I don’t

aunt it likeI used to. These days I justsmile knowing that if I have toput a half a tank of gas in mycar or dine at restaurants likeEl Torito – it’s easily done. Thelesson? Money doesn’t providehappiness, it simply rents youfreedom.
