The area of this research will be to study an important issue in education and music education in the Hong Kong curriculum. Further, music will be recognized as an essential school subject and an important activity for the development of children. This makes the music no less important than any other school subject.

The purpose of this research is to study the development of education in particular music education in Hong Kong from 1945 to 1997.
