AMAZONS
Ubicacion
Está situada en el nororiente de nuestro pais, posee parte de la región sierra y parte de la
Región Selva. Limita al norte con Ecuador; al este con Loreto; al sudeste con San Martín;
al sur con La Libertad; y al oeste con Cajamarca. Su relieve andino está formado por la
llamada Cordillera del Cóndor
• Latitud sur: 2º 59".
• Longitud oeste: entre meridianos 77º 9" y 78º 42".
• Densidad demográfica: 10 hab./km² aproximadamente.
• Población:
• Hombres: 203.158.
• Mujeres: 195.424.
• Altura de la capital: 2.335 msnm
• Número de provincias: 7.
• Número de distritos: 83.
• Clima: varía desde 40 ºC al norte hasta 2 ºC en las cordilleras del sur. El
promedio de temperatura es de 25 ºC. En la selva amazónica la temperatura
es alta.
Relieve
Su relieve es muy accidentado y abarca regiones interandina y selvática. En él destacan la
Cordillera El Cóndor, entre la frontera Perú-Ecuador, la Cordillera Central Andina, que da
origen a la Cuenca Hidrográfica del Río Marañón, En la parte norte se desplaza hacia el
este, en terreno llano, y pequeños accidentes topográficos. Hacia el sur, su relieve es
accidentado y con mayores alturas.
Fauna
• Mamíferos: oso hormiguero, puma, venado, huangana, sajino,
canchul, shapicuro, catachupa.
• Peces: tiburón, gamitana, boquichico, doncella, plateado, cashca,
trucha.
• Ofidios: Macanche, Colambo, Uyure, Chonta, cascabel, Shushupi,
Otorongomacha, Curumamán.
Flora
• Árboles Maderables: caoba, cedro, poma, árbol de sangre, palo
de cruz, cocobolo, quinilla, asarquiro, quilloscapi, quillocisa, chilca
brava, yngaina.
• Plantas Medicinales: copaibo, sachindaso, hoje, caña agria,
quinaquina, zarzaparrilla, alolva, piñón, ancusacha, bolsamullaca,
chinchirilla, atapí, ojo de vaca.

Tourist Attractions
• Kuelap: (Kuelap-Luya) well preserved Archaeological remains
above Utcubamba River Valley, the most interesting of the
department of Amazonas. For more information see Kuelap.
• Museum Leymebamba: (Leymebamba-Chachapoyas) The museum,
opened in 2000, houses more than 200 mummies found in the
Lake of the Condors.
• Cataract Gocta The third highest waterfall in the world
discovered in 2005
• Cambiopitec Caverns (Copallin-Bagua) are two caves in the
formative period were human occupation, is located in the
hamlet of Cambiopitec; to arrive two hours must be bustling
about half a foot or twenty minutes drive from the village of
Copallin; is built stairs for access. All year is appropriate
for visits.
• Cave Churuyacu: (The Err-Bagua) located one hour of the
district of La Peca, between winter and coffee crops. Your
income is uneven, its interior with large and narrow
passages, plenty of stalactites and stalagmites.
• Pongo de Rentema: (The Err-Bagua) is the income of the
Marañón River in the central mountains. It is just 14 km from
the town of Bagua and 400 meters.
• Canyon El Arenal (La Peca-Bagua) beautiful natural break of
the mountain by the stream La Peca.
• Natural sites-New Hope: (Aramango-Bagua) has a fall of 90 m
in height, its waters are becoming the Aramango ravine.
• Laguna El Porvenir (Aramango-Bagua) its area is 1.5 km. The
depth of 80 m in the deepest part. This just 2 h of Bagua, in
pickup trucks. It is favorable for swimming and boating.
