ullsevery cultish criteria. In‘The Dude’ it has a modernmessiah; in ‘Walter Sobchak’a crazy and charismaticprophet; and, in ‘LebowskiFest’, a spectacular revivalistroadshow. Lebowski Fest wasconceived by KentuckiansScott Schut and WillRussell ater a suitablyinactive aternoon tradingLebowski-isms whilst ailingto sell T-shirts at a tattooconvention. Soon ater, theyhired a bowling alley andprepared or what theyexpected to be a one-o gathering o a handul o thelm’s ans.Seven years later, the estivalis a phenomenon. Touring themajor cities o America, itattracts masses o Lebowski-devotees – AKA ‘Achievers’ –who congregate in costume ‘todrink white Russians, throwsome rocks and party with anarray o Dudes, Walters andMaudes’.
