logical and easy-to-follow discussions with clear visual aids and diagrams, you will learnhow the container works, and, by the end of the book, youll be wondering why servlets,JSPs and tag libraries seemed so complicated before. By combining the theory taught inthis book with practical experience, you will not only succeed in passing the exam, butwill do so confident that you are able to solve problems and draw-up solutions on the job.Reference MaterialHave you ever found that you couldnt quite remember the names of the XML elements or attributes in the Deployment Descriptor or Tag Library Descriptor, or perhaps youve had problems recalling custom tag life cycles? Not a problem! Helpful visual diagrams showat a glance the important schemas, without having to resort to knowing the XML Schemaor DTD languages, as used in the specifications. Who is this book suitable for? This guide is not intended as a beginners book. It assumes prior, although basic, knowledge of J2EE, the Web container and the Extensible Mark-up Language (XML)core syntax. However, thorough explanations are presented to give an excellentgrounding in the subject area. In addition, particular attention is devoted to the subjects of the Expression Language and custom tag libraries, both of which are new or have beensignificantly updated in the 1.4 version of the J2EE platform. No knowledge of either of these more difficult topics is assumed. Additional ChaptersThe two additional chapters present a summary of all the new features available in JavaEE 5.0, including the platforms change of name! These are suitable for anyone alreadyworking confidently with J2EE 1.4.
Personal Experience & Review Of Sun Certified Web Component Developer StudyCompanion: SCWCD Java EE 5 (exams 310-083 and 310-084) by Charles E. Lyons
This is a complete, no nonsense guide to the material on the Sun Certified WebComponent Developer (SCWCD) exam. It is well written, and easy to read.Last week I passed the 310-084 exam with a score of 92%. This book was one of mychief resources in preparing. I bought this book on impulse (I already had the other three big books on preparation for the SCWCD). I was pleasantly surprised. The book coversall the material on the exam in a straightforward way. For example, I found thedescription of deploying web applications (deployment descriptor elements) very helpful.Readers with no background in Servlets and JSP may find the material here too detailedfor an introduction. These readers may be want to look at Head First Servlets and JSP:Passing the Sun Certified Web Component Developer Exam (Brain-Friendly Guides).Once they have the big picture from the "Head First" book, this would be a great second book, filling the details needed to pass the test. Like most exam preparation books, there are questions at the end of each chapter (over 300 total). These questions make sure that help the reader make sure that they understandthe material (these questions are somewhat easier than ones on the exam). Here, eachanswer has a complete explanation. I found it very useful to read ALL of the answers,
