just an addition to these, i just saw this japanese movie entitled 'memories of matsuko' and i find it interesting because it shows this woman with this habit of forming relationships with abusive men. i highly recommend the movie. it has some funny moments as well.

Thank for posting this article. What poignant points! I especially agree with #2 (the fear of the unknown). I would suggest anyone in an abusive relationship to read Khaled Kosseini's A Thousands Splendid Suns. And yes, I strongly agree with your stand on that God does not support a marriage when one is clearly being abused by another. We ought to support the weak and help the abused!

helenwinslow Replied: Gigi that's it, you pulled up a Scribder's book review of it. put down that grappa. It's the guy that wrote The Kite Runner, you know. You dig into that one, I gotta go buy your Venice via Venice. 09 / 13 / 2009

jessica_chiang Replied: Yes, this is it. I think it should be a must-read for all. I finished in one day (stayed up all night in the dimly lit bathroom) because I just can't put it down. Its words and characters drew me so that I could care less about work tomorrow. It's a painful book(harder than Kite Runner) to read but you will never regret reading it. Kosseini is such a talented author.. 09 / 13 / 2009

jessica_chiang Replied: Helen is right. This is just the book review. I've looked for it on Scribd but it's not posted or advertised here. I got my copy from Costco for $8.49 and it's worth every cent. 09 / 14 / 2009

truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth. and Helen, yes, maybe we should circulate the link, but in my experience it is not worthy, because there are so many women who think they have drank a whole cup of wisdom so they know everything. simply they wont listen!

Congratulations John on this featured document! (Thank you for adding it to the Rainbow in the Stone group as well.) It deserves wide readership. Remember October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month...maybe a good "excuse" to circulate the link to this potentially life-changing article to friends and acquaintances.
