Robert Shapard & James Thomas (Students are required to bring the poetry anthology to class on the first day) Course Description This course provides an introduction to writing poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction. In morning and afternoon sessions on campus, students will participate in intensive writing exercises designed to address the elements of craft. We will read and discuss the work of established authors, investigating the strategies they use to craft their poetry and prose. In workshop sessions, we will read and discuss
each other’s original poems, essays and short stories as a first step toward revision.
In the online portion of the course, students will work on a final project in their chosen genre.
