GRUNDTVIG LEARNINGPARTNERSHIPS
FINAL REPORT  Partnership title: GEOMYTHOLOGY  Partner countries: Greece, Cyprus, Lithuania.
Geomythology is the Geological explanation of Mythology. The mainargument is that our ancestors created myths and legends in order tointerpret the geological changes and phenomena that took place. For example, the myth of
“giants war “
is reported at natural phenomena, i.e.storms , droughts, earthquakes etc. The scientists today have not onlyconfirmed, but also explained by using new technologies ( ratio-dating,etc) the facts ,described in the myths. The project "Geo-mythology" describes the activity which was planned intoprogrammes: travels into archaeological sites, ancient environments, paths, museums.
During the project implementation, six meetings were organized with thepartners: 2 in Greece, 2 in Cyprus,2 in Lithuania. People who wereinvolved, had an opportunity to acknowledge with the different Europeanculture, traditions and to establish new contacts. All conferences (inGreece, Cyprus and Lithuania) attracted many people, not only targetgroup, but also local community as the theme "Geo-mythology" seemsvery interesting .
Every trip was illustrated by pictures and connection with Fables–myths, prehistorically abidance, an approach of some geological phenomena thatare observed in these regions and the connection between thesephenomena with many myths and the possibility of exploitation from thelocal societies of the region in the frames of sustainable tourist progress.Additionally we touched such themes as climate change process and hownuclear power stations make an influence to our environment..
New paths were opened, between scientists of different level of education, different directions, from different countries of Europe.
The search of common myths, legends, roots, contributes toacknowledgment the need of common strategies in a sustainableprogress. The collected information about geomythology , opens up newpossibilities for the local societies. It is possible the creation of localteams of action and management, in places with particular naturalbeauties and history, related to geomythology. In particular the creation of GEOPARKS, could include elements of mythology, history, geology, tradition, environment, ecology, ecotourism, etc.

Finally, we emphasize the contribution of LMSU in Greece (as it representthe interests of the disabled people, in Lithuania) in the conference thatwas organised (oriented to the Lisbon’s Convention), to one of thedirections of “
opening up the opportunity for disabled people see the world and participate in the global society of civilization process
. Theconference received a large government interest and was broadcast onTV.
The main aims of the project were
:
To investigate the climate and geomorpholocical changes, during last18.000 years.
To investigate the changes in natural and in anthropogenic environment, thathad followed the geological changes in past and their interpretation through themythology .
To investigate the contribution of Greek and other European myths, in theprogress of European culture.
To incorporate Geomythology in environmental and sustainable developmenteducation, with the creation and operation of Geomythological Parks.
To realization at the common roots, the common origin (back round) andthe common future
In action implementation of the education for life (continuous education) indisadvantaged target-groups
Ability to use the acquired knowledge and experience from the project for the implementation of the innovating actions.
To give a valuable experience in promoting « active ageing » in particular raising the average of the solidarity with the new generation .
To create and organize geomythological parks in Greece and in other countriesof Europe.
Objectives:
To support the target-groups to come into contact with the natural environmentand explain the changes that took place
To understand that earth is continuously changing and evaluate humans’intervention and consequently contribution to environmental changes
To acquaint themselves with myths and legends and comprehend thephenomena that homo sapiens tried to explain with myths, in a period thatNatural Sciences were not been developed.
To raise awareness about the common European cultural values and promoteenvironmental education
To create and organize geomythological parks in Greece and in other countriesof Europe.
We believe that, we have got very positive results in all subjects
Teams of various ages, professions and interests, were created and wereparticipated in all actions. They were informed about subjects related toGeomythology, Geology, Historical and prehistorical places.

In the meetings with the partners, except the knowledge that we acquired, afriendship was developed that we believe will be continued ,when the programwill be finished.
The creation of a Geomythological park seems possible. Two methods of evaluation were applied:a) Project activities evaluation occurred periodically: during meetings, seminars, schools, and conferences.
Two methods of evaluation were applied:
a) Project activities evaluation occurred periodically: during meetings, seminars, schools, and conferences.During the meetings, all subjects that had been set in the agenda werediscussed. Each partner had to inform the rest of the team whether theactivities or deliverables that he/she undertook were successfullyimplemented. In the case of a difficult event, the team discussed the variouspossibilities of resolution of the problem in order to overcome the difficulty. With this way the evaluation was a product became from all team. Other subject of discussion were , the impact of cooperation in target-groups and inlocal societies and the search of methods of distribution of program.b) Environmental Education Centre of Stylida, as the project coordinator, wasin contact all the time with the collaborators, (by phone or with electronic post)for all activities, so each collaborator knew which activities were realised, which other should have been realised, but also to evaluate the actions.c) The monitoring functions in line with our questionnaire had been distributedat the beginning of the project and at the end. The balance between time andthe performance achieved in the process described progress and outcome of the dialogue and established number of contacts. We asked the targetgroups, to complete the Questionnaire and draw the attention to the projecttheme, who are interested in European culture, civilization, international dialogand people.a) In all countries, seminars were realized with the target groups. Theseminars were attended by various scientists and residents of the region.During the project meetings, seminars and work-fields a significant number of people participated. Through out the project, awareness was raised amongvarious groups, such as members of local teams, the local society and localauthorities. International and community relations, family traditions andrituals, partners in the hospitality, openness, and language knowledge.b) In all countries, an important number of people is gathered together, interested in geomythology. It is believed that these groups can multiply theeducational impact that this project could have, since they have been trained, educated and informed on geomythology issues since the beginning of theproject. The disabled people participation in project activities not only helpedto ensure the continuity of the project, but also to develop the active membersof the public. Involvement of people in project activities, they are showingconfidence in their skills and knowledgec) Communication and employment, the desire to experience in the fieldwhere they are the best. is the main criteria for their assessment of humanresources in the project. Involving people was important to take this intoaccount and seek to engage people within these criteria.
