Dear Parents: Today the classroom word work routines were introduced. Your childhas taken home his or her homes study duo-tang for the first time. The activities your child completes each night are the exact sameactivities that your child has already practiced at school
. Pleaseassist your child by providing a quiet study area, monitoringpractice and time, and discussing the choices your childmakes about his/her word study activities
. Your involvementwill help your child develop good homework habits and become astronger more confident speller and reader.Practicing the words in a variety of ways over a period of days is amore effective learning strategy, than the mere memorization of words the night before the word study homework is due. Theseactivities will assure that the words and the word principles theyrepresent are mastered. These activities have been modeled andpracticed in school so your child can explain them to you. (Adetailed explanation of each activity is found in the front of yourchild’s home study notebook just in case.) The words will be assigned on Monday. The students will have oneweek to complete all the activities in their Word Work Home StudyNotebook.
All work will be due every Friday, as the word studyhome notebook will need to be returned to school.
 The wordstudy quiz will be given on Fridays and returned to students the nextweek. Thank-you for your support and being an active partner in yourchild’s education. Thank-You,Mrs. R. Sebestyen
