Doctors Against Obamacare – Rally inD.C.
« 9/11 NEVER FORGET NEVER GIVE IN Organizing for America Bus Tour:Fabricating Consent »On September 10, 2009, doctors, nurses and other medical professionals came toWashington, D.C. from across the country to show their opposition to Obamacare. This rally exploded the government-created myth that there is unanimity amongsthealth care professionals for Democrat plans to take over health care.
TheAssociation of American Physicians and Surgeons
came to D.C. to present apetition from doctors to lawmakers. The AAPS has been a voice for privatephysicians since 1943. Their motto is
omnia pro aegroto
, “all for the patient”. Thedoctors met with the representatives from their respective states and argued for aplatform that avoids unnecessary bureaucratic intervention in health care.Dr. Shannon Norris, a radiologist from Atlanta, holds a People’s Cube posterdescribing Obamacare as offering “the efficiency of the Postal Service, thesustainability of Social Security and all the compassion of the IRS”.

Dr. Steven Ellison, a cardiologist from Georgia, displays graphically how doctorsfeel about being targeted by a party and president that slander and demonizethem. On the podium, speaker after speaker talked about the slurs PresidentObama has made about doctors performing unnecessary amputations andtonsillectomies out of greed. Not only is it untrue that doctors profit from theseprocedures, but the premise that they would do such harm to their patients is aninsult to doctors. Dr. Hal Scherz, a pediatric urologist from Atlanta, founded Docs for Patient Care tovoice doctors’ opposition to the “big rush” for a big government solution to healthcare reform. The organization of doctors suggests practical proposals such as tortreform, insurance reform, and opening up insurance pools between states.Their petition to Congress can be found at TakeBackMedicine.com:

Petition point:
1. INDEPENDENCE
: Doctors are professionals. They answer totheir patients, not the government or an insurance company or any other third  party. Treatments should be decided by doctor and patient exclusively.
“We are not the enemy,” said Dr. Joyce Lovitt, a pediatrician from Georgia.
Petition point
:
2. VALUE OUR SERVICES
: Physicians have a right to be paid amarket-based fee for their services, and to be paid at the time of service or withina reasonable period.Physicians can no longer allow medical care in this country to becontrolled by government and insurance companies 

Current reform options purport be “cure-alls” for every American. But we know that every patient is different, and just like patients, thereis no single big-government solution to change health care in thiscountry.

Instead, we need more diversity in solutions.  Therefore, support changes that address the following issues:

The unintended consequences of Obamacare is the real problem. Purported savings uses to justify the argument that there is no defecit portend serious rationing for seniors and the poor should be the primary issue being discussed now. The other is the savings that are ignored such as Tort Reform to reduce the cost of medical malpractice insurance, elimination of prescription drug advertising that would cut health insurance premiums by 25% more than anything else could. A serious individual mandate like that proposed by former President Ronald Reagan which could dramatically reduce cost shifting. Needed Medicaid fraud prevention especially in the relm of unneeded but highly advertised durable medical equipment and medical testing fraud using the homeless on our nation's skid rows also could save billions Other ignored reforms include appropriate gengraphic providor reinbursement changes that take into account the disparity in local costs of living and the costs to operate a practice. More impiortant than anything else we need reform of medical billing so billed costs from providors more closely resemble actual providor costs not some artificial amount driven buy CMS accounting rules that only make the consumer more confused as to what the problems are.
