Help Lead the National YNPN Movement - Join the YNPN National Board!

The Young Nonprofit Professionals Network (YNPN) National Board is looking for outstanding young
leaders to join us as board members. The National YNPN Board supports the mission and vision of YNPN
chapters by leveraging partnerships, conducting national advocacy, and collecting and disseminating best
practices to chapters and members. If you are committed to the nonprofit sector, ready to take a
leadership role, and want to help lead the growing YNPN movement, we encourage you to apply to join
this working board. Please note that we are a volunteer-led and run organization and the average time
commitment expected is 15-20 hours per month.

What is YNPN National looking for in Board Members?


Leaders with the following skills and experience: YNPN National also seeks:
♦ Organizational development and change ♦ Geographic diversity
♦ Accounting and fiscal management ♦ Racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, gender, and
♦ Evaluation and assessment age diversity
♦ Fundraising ♦ Representative of the individuals and
♦ Technology communities we serve (at least 60% of the
♦ PR and marketing board will be affiliated with YNPN chapter

What is Expected of YNPN National Board Members?


National board members are expected to represent the interests and needs of young nonprofit
professionals, to support YNPN’s mission and strategic plan, and to support YNPN chapters in serving
members’ needs.

Specific expectations:
♦ Serve a two-year term from January 1 – December 31 two years later
♦ Commit 15-20 hours per month to YNPN business
♦ Participate in 1.5-2 hour board meetings every other month by conference call and attend 2 in-person
board meetings/year
♦ Actively participate in decision making on conference calls and through e-mail
♦ Serve on at least one board committee, participate in monthly committee meetings, and proactively
follow through on committee work
♦ Contribute financially to YNPN at a personally significant level of at least $100/year
♦ Be a positive ambassador for National YNPN in the community

Selected applicants will interview with a YNPN Board member in October and be notified of their status by
the board by December. Terms will start in January.

YNPN National supports YNPN Chapters across the U.S. through connecting chapters virtually and in
person at our annual conference, leveraging best practices, providing an integrated technology platform
and website, creating national-level partnerships, and serving as a national advocate for YNPN members.

How You Can Get Involved with YNPN National


♦ Join the YNPN National Board of Directors
YNPN is looking for dedicated board members to serve at least one two-year term on the National
board. The board meets by phone every other month and in person twice a year. Board members
join at least one board committee and to dedicate on average 15-20 hours/month to board work.

♦ Become your Chapter’s Liaison to the YNPN National Board


A Chapter Liaison is the communications point person between chapters and YNPN National. The
duties of this position are varied and require approximately 3 hours per month.

♦ Volunteer for a YNPN National Committee or Task Force


National board committees often take on new projects that could benefit from the leadership and
skills of our larger network. Opportunities may be discrete and project-based or may entail ongoing
participation. These opportunities will be published on the Leaders List. Or, if you have an idea for
how you might help YNPN National as a non-board member volunteer, please contact us!

♦ Donate to or Help Identify Funding for YNPN


YNPN relies on the generous support of foundations and individuals around the country. Please
