Copyright Board of Canada 800 – 56 Sparks Street Ottawa, ON, K1A 0C9 Attention: Gilles McDougall Secretary General Dear Mr. McDougall:
Re: Access Copyright Post-Secondary Educational Institution Tariff (2011-2013)  Withdrawal of CAUT and CFS from Proceeding
I write to inform the board that my clients, the Canadian Association of University Teachers (CAUT) and the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) are electing to withdraw from proceedings in respect of the above referenced proposed tariff. The experience of CAUT and CFS to date in these proceedings has led them to conclude that their resources will be more productively deployed elsewhere in support of student and teacher authors and learners. CAUT and CFS will not be filing their case nor participating in the hearing scheduled to begin February 12, 2014. CAUT and CFS have provided the Board with a substantive objection, and the concerns expressed therein remain. We trust the Board, in taking on a more inquisitorial role in proceedings, will find direction in that document as well as in the concessions already made by Access Copyright in respect of its proposed Post-Secondary Educational Institution Tariff (2014-2016).
