 About

GoodCompany Ventures catalyzes start-ups with innovative solutions to big, unmet social needs.GoodCompany entrepreneurs get a great place to work in Philadelphia, a community of like-mindedentrepreneurs, and access to a network of capital sources and expert advisors. We champion models thatoffer investors both financial return and social impact
Mission
GoodCompany seeks only for-profit companies. The idea of addressing critical social issues with the rigorand access to capital of the business world can be implemented through nonprofit, hybrid and for-profitbusiness models. However, GoodCompany’s founders particularly value the sustainability of models thatprovide private investors with attractive social and financial returns.

Social impact should be a central component of the mission or operations. While many businesses have important social objectives and/or highly active philanthropic activities, we arelooking for models where social impact is integral to what the company does.

Scale matters. Local solutions can often have big impacts on local communities, but are not ofteninvestable.

We think the needs of a sustainable economy are some of our largest social needs. That means, for example, that our interests span education, clean technology and economic development…and your new idea, too.

GoodCompany accepts entrepreneurs who agree to measure their impact against a triple bottomline encompassing people, profit and planet. Of course, entrepreneurs need to find ameasurement system that makes sense for them. A refined set of metrics (that we happen to like)for summing across the “non-financial” bottom lines can be found at BCorporation.

Innovation matters. Old business models can be effective ways to address social issues, but they rarely provide strong financial returns. We are especially interested in models that harnesscutting-edge technology or re-think existing models.
