pornography. Consider:
- the pornography industry generates $80 million per year
- 12 to 17 year olds use pornography the most of any age group
- every 12th person in the pew of Evangelical churches is addicted to
pornography
- the percentage of porn use is higher in the church than in the world
- women are the number one targeted group of the pornography
industry.*
Our word pornography comes from two Greek words, porneia meaning
sexual immorality and graphe meaning writing. So pornography is sexual
immorality in written form, images if you will. This is not merely a 20th or
21st century problem. In preaching against the ungodliness of Samaria and
Jerusalem, the northern and southern kingdoms respectively, Yahweh refers
to Samaria as Oholah, meaning tent or tabernacle. She has committed
harlotry with Assyria, going after their idols.
