ORKSHOP EXPLORING THE POTENTIAL AND PITFALLS OF A REVOLUTIONARY TECHNOLOGY
Friday, February 28, 1 – 3 pm ET
Abstract Submission Deadline:
Monday, February 17, 8 pm ET
Poster Submission Deadline:
Monday, February 24, 8 pm ET Have you used a laser spec in your research? If so, contribute a poster to the upcoming USGS/CUAHSI Virtual Workshop on Laser Specs for Field Hydrology and Biogeochemistry. CUAHSI and the USGS is sponsoring a series of presentations in January and February, culminating in a VIRTUAL POSTER SESSION on February 28. Both methodological and applications to specific science questions and problems are welcome. Share your experiences with your colleagues and learn from their experiences. Other highlights of this virtual workshop are an Instrumentation Forum featuring scientists from both Picarro and Los Gatos Research, the two major manufacturers, and talks from Len Wassenaar (IAEA, Vienna, Austria) and Ty Coplen (USGS, Reston, VA) on January 27. This kick-off event will be followed by 5 cyberseminars during February with Users Perspectives from Markus Weiler, Gabe Bowen, Julian Klaus, Todd Dawson, and Mark Conrad. This outstanding line up of presentations (all of which will be recorded and posted on line) will culminate in a VIRTUAL POSTER SESSION on Feb. 28. To participate, please submit an extended abstract (maximum 2 pages) by February 17 and your poster by February 24.
Abstracts will be published as a USGS publication and archived on line.
Posters will be available for viewing in advance of the session and authors can interact with the audience during the session on Friday afternoon (Eastern time). This virtual workshop will be a first for CUAHSI and USGS, so bring some patience and a sense of humor if the technology stutters! We think it will work well and is worth a try. The organizing committee for this workshop has been Richard Keim (Louisiana State), Anne Jefferson (Kent State), Carol Kendall (USGS), and Donna Myers (USGS).
Registration for the event is free, but is required so we can have enough phone lines. Further details are at
