Colour scheme The colour scheme for this magazine is simplistic.

The colours red, grey, black and white, all have connotations to class and elegance. Most of the magazines Ive looked at share similar colour palettes to convey the same meaning.

Centre of Visual Interest

The central point of interest makes this magazine quirky and alternative. I love the idea of the hooded body with the face covered; it sort of gives the magazine a mysterious feel and is diverse and different to other magazines of a similar style.

Typeface The typeface is harsh and bold but works against the simplistic style of the cover. The controversial image and simple but bold typography work well together and have an equal balance. Grid The magazine producers have clearly thought about the grid formation and how the cover is laid out. If you think of the 3x3 grid layout this cover has the majority of the CVI in the middle column of the page with the title in the top left corner, possible all in one square. The top right square looks to be blank. The may have positioned the central image as just off centre but can get away with this as the magazine is quirky and different.

Taking ideas If I was to take ideas from this cover I would try and recreate the idea of a hidden face and bold but simplistic typography.
