Rocket/Jonathan Stephenson presents an exhibition of of art and

design from three legends
of mid-century Danish modernism.Herbert Krenchel (Danish,
b1922), an engineer by profession, designed the classic Krenit
bowls.The first of these coloured enamel bowls were designed
in 1953 and eight different sizes, ineight standard colours,were
developed over the next two years. This best-selling range of
bowls were continuously in production until 1965. In 2006 Rocket
presented the first comprehensive exhibition of Krenchels
pioneering work.
Hans J Wegner (1914-2007) was the most active furniture designer
in Denmark during the latter
half of the twentieth-century and his work is internationally
renowned.We first showed some of
his furniture at Rocket in the group show Danish by Design in
2006. In this current exhibition
we feature some of his refreshingly minimal and utilitarian pieces
from the late 1950s and 1960s.
We focus on the three versions of the Getama daybed and on his
Andreas Tuck coffee tables.

Natalia Vasilenko is the designer of the famous Krasnodar boutiques,

hotels, salons, restaurants, private interiors, including Moscow ones.
However, she is keeping her present projects a secret, hoping to
impress the audience. And she knows how to do it.
Many designers complain that it is not easy to deal with our
local customers.
You should love working with people, feel and understand them.
I have been recommended by most of my clients. They trust my
persona. Sometimes there is some kind of misunderstanding though,
when the designer sees the whole project in its finished form, while
the customer observes the realization of a certain stage. A client can be
hung in the balance of accepting the idea or saving on something.
How do you manage to combine your own vision with the
needs of a client?
You should see the interior as a living organism. The space also
has a feeling, a sense,a smell. I'm sure you know the situation when,
after leaving an accommodation or a public place, you remember its
smell and atmosphere. This scent is often made up of thousands of
components finishing materials, someone's perfume. It is individual
as the interior itself. In other words, it is like a person you should see
a constitution itself and form an image. And if this image is organic,
the room you are working on will be cozy and comfortable. Both the

A wooden patio with trees, formed by the volumetry of the house

and a concrete wall, articulates the entire program of the Coser
House. The living room is enclosed in the boxed ground floor of
this volume and wide windows open it to the external space. The
inner dimensions of the living room 6.5m by 10.3m, and the low
ceiling of 2.40m, create a sensation of coziness, accentuated by
the textured of the concrete ceiling made with narrow wooden
formwork. In this way, a desired horizontal proportion for this
project is created.
In the two-story volume, arranged perpendicular to the living
room, on the ground floor, is the service program, the kitchen
and a TV room and, on the second floor, the three bedrooms.
Sliding wooden brises filter the light into the inner ambient and
the windows open out to the patio. The master bedroom extends
outward to a wooden-decked solarium. In this space a ground fire
can be used to cook a great bar-b-cue on a sunny day or to light
the house on a dark night. The chimneys on the rooftop are of
varied shapes, inspired in the chimneys on the rows of houses in
the city of Sao Paulo.

Reddor is a creation of Nikolay Petrov, one of the most

recognizable designers in Krasnodar. It is his new work, very
basement, very eclectic, just in a Petrov manner. As the project
author says, Reddor is the quintessence of his work and the
latest urban project in the shabby style.
The customer is the designers friend and they have already
realized two projects Politic International and Nabokov.
Petrovs participation in Reddor was not limited by the
interior design. Together with the owner of the saloon Nikolay
thought of a positioning of a place, its function and audience.
Aesthetics of Reddor was inspired by the designers European
wanderings. The place, imbued with the spirit of Berlin and the
creative atmosphere, must attract the so-called advanced youth
and people of art. I always try to create the place where I would
like to go myself. It is designed for a certain ideal, perhaps, for
a nonexistent in a real life visitor with taste, prosperity and
intelligence says Nikolay.
