August 2009 Newsletter

Many excitingthings happened in August.We were able to participate in amarriage seminar, the churches hadmany great meetings, and two of ourfriends had babies.

African Marriage Seminar

Fieldon and Janet Allison have beenmissionaries in Africa for over 20 years.They are traveling through Zambia andteaching marriage seminars as they go.We invited 10 married couples to comeand attend the three day seminar. The

seminar’

s purpose was to train thecouples so they could teach others. Wealso attended the lessons. They werevery helpful and were well suited for thevillage context. The Allisons understandthis culture well and taught what wasmost helpful for them. We hope that thecouples will improve their marriages andteach others as well.

Youth Seminar at Campande

Seeing the need to reach to the youth inMumena, Campande church held a youthseminar and invited all the young peoplein the local area. The meeting was fromFriday night to Saturday afternoon. Twolocal leaders taught as well as Brian Davisand myself. We taught how each personmust choose which path they will go.One young man was baptized into Christand many others have started to attendon Sunday morning. The leaders atCampande church have decided to havemeetings for the youth at least twice ayear. Pray that the other churches willalso begin holding youth seminars andthat the young people will dedicate theirlives to Jesus.

Lucia’s Baby

Karen’s good fr

iend Lucia had a baby atthe end of the month. She wanted Karento be there, so we took her to thehospital and Karen helped her throughoutthe night. The baby was born at 2AM.Karen and Emily stayed with Lucia andhelped her care for the baby the rest of the night. Lucia asked Karen to choose his

name, so she chose Daniel after Karen’s

brother.
