COLLEGE FOOTBALL
No. 3 USCat No. 8 Ohio State
8 p.m., ESPN
The Buckeyes are winless in their lastfive games against teams ranked in the topfive, but they have a real shot at endingthat streak tonight. Trojans freshman QBMatt Barkley hasn’t played a road game yet,and it doesn’t get much tougher than theHorseshoe. Meanwhile, a great perfor-mance by OSU QB Terrelle Pryor could vaulthim into the Heisman picture. A lot on theline for both schools as they chase nationaltitle glory.
NASCAR
Chevy Rock & Roll 400
7:30 p.m., ABC
Following tonight’s race, we’ll finallyknow whether Brian Vickers and Kyle Buschqualified for the Chase for the NASCARSprint Cup, and who was left out, if that’sthe case. Busch is a real threat to win, having won here before and led hundredsof laps at the track, while Vickers is certainlya threat to finish in the top 10 for the simplereason he has not finished worse than 12thsince late June. A DNF for any driver not yetlocked in could open the door for eithercompetitor.
GOLF
BMW Championship
3 p.m., NBC
Tiger Woods has a handful of courseswhere he simply dominates, and Cog Hillis one of those. A four-time winner at thesuburban Chicago course, Woods is tiedfor the lead with Mark Wilson heading intothird-round play. Their pairing will be aninteresting one for history buffs—Woodsbeat Wilson in the U.S. Junior Amateur in1992. Padraig Harrington continues to lurk near Tiger, as he’s just one shot back with atrio of others.

OFF THE FIELD
Fabio Capello
is wagging a finger at theglamorous wives and girlfriends of English soccer players.Wary of the distractions accompa-nying soccer players’ celebrity life-styles, England’s coach will allow theso-called WAGS to visit the squadonly on the days after games at nextyear’s World Cup.Capello is set to take a tougherstance than his predecessors, seekingto avoid a repeat of what defender
RioFerdinand
called “a circus” during the2006 tournament in Germany.“I hope we will be there for a verylong period but the players will haveone day with their family, with thegirls and with their friends,” Capellosaid. “It will be one day a week, aftereach game, and that is enough. That’sit. We are there to play football, notfor a holiday.”
Several of the players conceded thatthe presence of the likes of
Victoria
Beck-ham
and Girls Aloud singer
Cheryl Cole
,who is married to defender
Ashley Cole
,and the subsequent media attentionhad distracted the players at the WorldCup.

New York Post

Jeff Pearlman
atjeffpearlman.com.Pearlman said Vecsey lookedunprepared and rattled off names of players he thought should be in theHall of Fame and used inappropriatelanguage, among other things. It wasso bad that NBA commissioner
DavidStern
shook his head throughout whilechecking his Blackberry and
Michael Jordan
—who is being inducted—walked out and didn’t return, Pearl-man said.“I almost felt sorry for Peter Vec-sey,” Pearlman wrote.
