I have a lot of respect for this work of love and for all the musical knowledge. And it has to be said: Some of the comments are very unfriendly and just stupid. This is a try of a list, a guideline especially for young people, who want to update their record collection - and it's not not a religious dogma. Rolling Stone did once more some good work. What else do you expect?

What an amazing list! To answer all the other posters, this is a list compiled by experts in the field - not people who like or dislike one band or another. SO - they actually have a basis for the musicality of the list. Have a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T (in the immortal words of Aretha) for the great musicians and songs on the list. It's about the greatest songs "of all time" not the greatest songs of yours, or my, generation.

OK to respond to your comments in order: -pearl jam sux ass, thats why its not in the list -Only about 25% of the list is garbage -Rolling Stone magazine made the list like it says in the title -living on a prayer is a good song and should definitely be in the list, but leave it to rolling stone to forget Bon Jovi!
