The Gambia and Niger
Andreas A. Rudolph was invited inAugust to both countries to informyouth pastors and youth leadersabout the basics and the practicalwork of Christian Endeavor. Mostof the West African CE 'unions'are just a board of interestedpastors who were visited someyears ago by the late bishopGeorge Larbie from Ghana, whowas the WCEU VP for Africa untilhe died some years ago. Therehad been no follow up andtraining for those leaders.Altogether about 40 personsparticipated. In Gambia the CEleaders will now form local CEsocieties and in Niger and Malisome pastors and youth explorenow possibilities to start CEgroups in their churches.

CE Union Côte d'Ivoire
CE Union Côte d’Ivoire organizeda meeting March 14, 2009 inAbidjan that saw the involvementof 30 churches, represented bypastors, by evangelists, prophetsand others.Three themes have been treated:Theme 1: The history of the entryof World's Christian EndeavourUnion into Côte d’Ivoire, by Mrs.Konan Clémentine, Chairwomanof CE Union Côte d’Ivoire.Theme 2: The general objectivesof World's Christian EndeavourUnion, by Mr. Aguiar CodjoGodefroy.Theme 3: The objectives of CEUnion Côte d’Ivoire, by PasteurGuede D. Gustave, Chief of StaffAttaches from CE Côte d’IvoireThe goals of CE Union Côted’Ivoire are:1 - Short-term: CE Union Côted’Ivoire wants to install themovement in all cities of thecountry to establish a system ofpermanent evangelism, with theactive involvement of the young.2 - Middle term: CE Union Côted’Ivoire raises the means toorganize a regional conventionwith the involvement of otherWest African national CE Unions.3 - Long-term: CE Union Côted’Ivoire wants to create theconditions necessary for theorganization of a world conventionin Ivory Coast.This meeting gave the opportunityto a lot of Christiansand churches todiscover the move-ment and to adhere toit massively.The meeting endedwith a meal offered bythe ChairwomanKonan Clémentine.

CE is live and kicking in Nepalaltogether in almost 29 places(churches, fellowships, prayergroups). Our activities mostlycomprise of Bible studies, after-church service, occasional Biblequiz, Christian film shows forChristians and non-Christians andmusic practice. We are alsoplanning some interactive socialevents for participation of non-Christians too. And indeed CEGermany has been helping us formany years to run a girls hostelwhich gives care and educationfor 40 (recently increased) girlchildren from economicallyunderprivileged Christian families.

“240 delegates from four regions ofIndia attended the 3 days programat the Baldwin Boys’ High Schoolin Bangalore, South India, from15
May 2009. There werealso 40 delegates from SouthIndia CE Union participating. ThisState union had kept themselvesseparate from CEI in the past.The keynote address of theInaugural Session was given byBishop Dr.Taranath S. Sagar,President of the National Councilof Churches in India.The speaker of the Publicmeetings was Rev.Dr.ChristopherGnanakan, Director of Training forOTAN (Outreach to AsiaNationals); the Bible Study wasgiven by Bishop Dhirendra KumarSahu, General Secretary of theNational Council of Churches inIndia and Dr. A. M. Prabakaran,Director of BSI.They encouraged theEndeavourers to stand firm intheir faith despite of difficulties,Christians in India had to stand inthe recent months.Travel and other expenses for 50delegates from Kandhamal districtof Orissa, where the persecutionwas very severe, were paid by arelief organization.Special sessions for this group ofpeople were conducted to counselthem to overcome their traumaand lead a normal life.It was a time of blessing.
