OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS FACTS ON ODPPS ADVISORY BOARD

The Advisory Board of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) was inaugurated on March 15th 2013.

The Board is established under section 16 and 17 of the Office of the Director Public Prosecutions Act, which came into effect on 16th January 2013.

The Board is constituted of nine members notably: the Principal Secretary, Ministry of State for Public Service; the Attorney-General; the Chief Registrar of the Judiciary; the Principal Secretary, National Treasury; the Chairperson, Law Society of Kenya; the Director, Witness Protection Agency; the Chairperson, Kenya National Commission on Human Rights and the Inspector General of the National Police Service.

The DPP is the Chairperson of the Board while the Secretary, Public Prosecutions acts as the Boards Secretary.

The principal functions of the Board are to advise ODPP on: recruitment and appointment of staff; promotions; discipline; and any other matters that may be referred to the Board by the DPP.

Meetings are held at least four times, every financial year.
