10 Tips For Shooting StunningGlamour Images

I am really lucky. My passion is glamour photography and fortunately there is aquite a large audience for this type of images. And there always has been, atleast since gifted artists like Michelangelo produced masterpieces in form of paintings and sculptures in glamour style.So glamour and beauty for me is a perfect genre to camp in. And if you areanything like me then you will enjoy this genre as well. To get you started I wouldlike to share 10 tips with you. These are things I learned in my photoshootings –some of them the hard way. So maybe I can lead you to a shortcut here andthere.

1.Get Inspiration From The Best Magazines

Think of your creative mind like a gas tank. Every so often you should fill itup so that you never run out of gas. In case of high quality glamour imagesthe known men’s magazines like Playboy or Hustler are still an awesomesource for glamour “fuel”. Nowadays they run websites and cyberclubs sothat you don’t even have physically buy the magazines anymore. Chooseyour favorite pics and try to replicate them as a starting point for yourshooting.

2.Choose Really Beautiful Models

There is the saying “you can put lipstick to a pig”. And in since childhood Iam the biggest fan of the mupped show and miss piggy. However, whenyou try to shoot beauty with a subject that you yourself do not considerreally beautiful – it simply won’t work. So choose models who are trulybeautiful in your eyes. There are so many willing models organized inonline networks like Modelmayhem and similar. Just go there and find yourperfect model.

3.Know Your Model And Location

Imagine you go on a train and sit down on the first free seat. The personopposite to you is totally unknown to you, but now you start aconversation. How’s this conversation? Is it probably, a little stiff? At leastin the beginning? If so, then how do you think will the conversion betweenyour camera, yourmodel and your locationbe, if you don’t knowthem yet. Exactly, a bitstiff. So, break the icebeforehand. Talk to yourmodel, get to know her.Know what she likes andwhat not. And visit yourlocation days before the

4.Care For Perfect Make-up

Just as there are glamour images there is glamour-make-up. And you willwant your model to wear glamour-make-up. Dark brown eyeshaddow, ahealthy glow thanks to blusher on the apples of her cheeds and stronglipstick. Whether she applies it herself or you have a make-up artistparticipating in your shooting – make sure that the makeup reallyunderlines the beauty of your model . Don’t accept a makeup that does notsuite your models face, let them change it until it is really lookingbeautiful.

5.Make Soft Light

In order to tone down wrinkles andspots you should make strong softlight. There are a lot of light shapingtools for this. The most popular setupmight be to have two softboxespositioned camera left and right asclose to the model as possible. A morehandy lightshaping tool which alsoworks really good is the shoot-throughumbrella.

6.Care For A Good Atmosphere

A clinical atmosphere can kill ashooting right from the start. On theother hand, if a shooting is a funexperience for everybody, then this isvisible in the photos big time. So carefor a good atmosphere. Plan enoughtime for everything so that you don’thave to pace and stress the people,play the music that people like, havedrinks which the people like and mostof all: be in a really really good mood yourself.

7.Have Your Model Flirting With The Lens

It really comes across in photos when the model is flirting with yourcamera. Some models just have a natural talent for that. Some require alittle warm up phase in the shooting. What I usually do is that I myself startan innocent flirt with the model. I just try to be charming and fun, I make alot of honest compliments and I reflect a smile whenever the model is
