UPDATE THE BOARD ON THE PERFORMANCE OF KET REACH HIGH STUDY SUPPORT PROJECT Purpose of the Report To provide the Board with an update of the progress of the project against the Targets set out in the Project Proposal. 1. Supporting in recruitment and supervision of study staff and volunteers. Appointed teaching staff and teaching assistants. The project has appointed 8 staff in total. We have also put together a pool of reserves (supply) in cases of absences etc. 2. Organising and managing the daily delivery of the services Working with ILM team on the development side of the project. Regular team meeting to update and identify ways forward for the project. 3. Maintaining student records to monitor progress. In process of developing appropriate documentation to monitor progress of students. Meeting with staff on 1st July, will consult with the team on ways to monitor. 4. liaising with parents, involving them in their childs educational developments Spoken to parents regarding the project at various venues. Invitation to the Launch of the project will be sent out to all those who have registered and to parents of young people who have put their names forward. 5. Liaising with local feeder schools to monitor achievements and reports outputs achieved to BCAT. Working closely with Hinde House and Parkwood High School. Delivered group work to young people around their understanding of study support. A consultation document was devised to help us identify structure of study support sessions etc. Information sent to other feeder schools and contact made via telephone, response has been poor. Information also sent to Firvale Head Teacher, waiting for response. 6. Interview and liaise with the teachers / facilitators for design and delivery. Appointed staff, letters of employment gone out via BCAT. Meeting arranged for 1st July 2004 regarding practicalities for the delivery of the project. 7. Review/ evaluate course progress. This process is currently being implemented through regular supervisions and team meetings. Review young people progress through the sessions on a 3months basis. This will be negotiated with the staff and pupils. Recommendations The board is asked to: Note the progress and achievement of the Project. Progress The steering committee has been set up; we have got a core group of members on the committee who have inputted into the project in various ways. Two meeting have already taken place and dates for future meetings have been booked in advance with the members. The project is in the process of finalising details for the use of Pye Bank School. Meeting arranged with Rita Storrs on Friday 25th June. The official Launch of the project is on the 10th July 2004 at Pye Bank School from 1-4pm. To promote the project we will initially build the project on Saturdays and Sundays and phase in the Weekdays possibly in September. Premises identified for weekdays are Firshill School. Contact with potential students identified for support has been made initially via telephone with the support of the ILM team. Invitations will be sent out to everyone who has registered. The information sent out will be translated in the community Language Urdu. Flyers advertising the Launch have gone out in Burngreave messenger July issue (6500).
