12 Years Compulsory Education

Dear Ladies and gentlemen, Assalamuallaikum wr. wb. Good morning. Education is a pillar for the development of a nation. Education is the most important tool for young people to develop themselves, both their creativity and logic. Currently, Indonesia is implementing nine-year compulsory education. To date the program is welcomed by various regions in Indonesia. Therefore, it is important for us all to continue to support the excellent programs of the Ministry of Education. Indonesia is currently facing the better future. Indonesia is struggling to emerge from the downturn that has hit for more than twenty years. 9-year compulsory education program that launched by the Ministry of Education has been running very well. We certainly do not want to continue to stand in the same place. Government through the Ministry of Education issued a discourse on 12-year compulsory education. Programs that presumably will soon begin in the academic year 2012/2013 is having mixed responses from various regions in Indonesia. Some say ready some say not ready. The government provides free cost to the public schools to help children from poor families. I feel this is very good step for the future of Indonesia. What should be done now before the 12-year compulsory education program was initiated to evaluate the program before so at least it could be easily handled in the future if there is any problem. Hopefully what was announced by the government will get a warm welcome from all over Indonesia. Because I see this as a bright light in the midst of adversity education in Indonesia. With the 12-year compulsory education, we can provide opportunities for unable children to have higher education so that it can compete with students from abroad. Hopefully what I said could be a good material information for the audience here. We are sorry if there are any-one words. Wassalamuallaikum wr.wb.
