 Overview
Malacca
is situated in southernPeninsular Malaysia and lies sevendegrees north of the equator. It lies between the continent of India to theWest and China to the East.The State of Malacca,(Melaka in Malaylanguage), one of the fourteen stateswithin Malaysia, is situated on theSouth-Western Coast of Peninsular Malaysia facing the Straits of Malaccaand sandwiched between the states of  Negeri Sembilan in the north and Johor in the south. The area of Malacca stateis 1,658 square kilometers and isdivided into three smaller districts,namely Melaka Tengah, Alor Gajah andJasin.The North-South Expressway allowseasy access into Malacca from all statesof Malaysia. It takes about two hours of travel by road (express bus) from thecapital, Kuala Lumpur to Malacca andapproximately three hours fromSingapore to the south.
