LearningatISM We have a wonderful community at Interna onal School Manila, with caring and talented students and suppor ve families. Ul mately however, we are in the 'learning business' and as a faculty we are constantly striving to ensure that we are doing everything we possibly can to maximize the learning taking place in every classroom and space. At ISM, we are very fortunate to have teachers who see learningasalifelongpursuit.Theyareinaconstantstateof selfreec on about their own pedagogy and are on a quest to seek new informa on about developing and improving theirteaching.Overthepastweeks,teamsofteachershave been u lizing their free lesson periods to visit other grade levels and specialist classrooms to learn from each other. They have been looking for learning in these classrooms, by observing what the students are doing, listening for how they are using language to make meaning from set tasks, and no cing the dierent ways in which children are demonstra ng their understanding. It has been powerful for these teacher teams to discuss what they are seeing and how these insights can inuence their own prac ce.

Over the past two weeks we have also had our team of EnglishasaSecondLanguage (ESL) teachers leading our facultyonWednesdaymornings,todeepenourcollec veunderstandingsofhowwesupportlanguagedevelopmentfor all our students. Teachers have been building banks of strategies for how we iden fy and teach the subject specic vocabulary and phrases necessary for students to access the concepts they are learning about. Again, it has been teacherslearningfromteachersandreec ngonhowtheymightbestcauselearningforourstudents. SportsDay On Thursday morning's ES Assembly, the Bearcat visited us to remind us all that Sports day is coming on Friday 14th February!Pleasedocomeandjoinusforthisdayofhavingfun,beingphysicallyt,andshowingoursportsmanship!
