Pastor John’s
Sixty Second Sermon
It is important for Christians to be good examples to one another & especiallyfor our children, the future leaders & disciples following us.The Apostle Paul told Titus to be a good example in everything that is good.Otherwise he would pull down with one hand what he had built up with the other.Good preaching & a good life must go together to demonstrate the grace of God.Paul told Titus to teach sound doctrine, but warned that it would have no effectunless people submitted to the authority he had under Christ. Only God’s gracecan turn people’s hearts away from sin.Your spirit is eternal. It can continue to grow strong even as your body weakenswith old age. It is essential to keep your spirit growing until we reach heaven whereour spirit will be perfected. Are you diligent with your spiritual growth? Are you gain-ing ground in the work of holiness? Proverbs 10:4 says, “Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.” The greatest wealth is spiritual prosperity.Love the Lord & be diligent with your faith in Him. Increase your knowledge,self-control, perseverance, brotherly kindness & love. Have the courage to standupon the Word of God. Remember who you are in Christ & set an example of goodworks - love one another, be zealous in all areas of Christianity, & fruitful in theworks of righteousness.Levi was a man of God’s Word who lived a life of communion with God &sought to please Him in everything he did. He was gentle towards all people & wasa peacemaker. God Himself gave an honourable testimony of Levi, “He walkedwith me in peace & righteousness,” With his love for the Lord, Levi helped turnmany away from sin, & helped save many souls. There are multitudes in heaventhat thank & praise God for having known him.Our love for God must always prevail above our love for any person. We mustchoose the things of the Lord when others are in conflict with it. Even Jesus ignoredhis mother & brothers when they distracted Him from His work. What legacy will you leave for the generations to come? Will you be a good examplefor your children & grandchildren? I hope & pray you will serve as an example of thegoodness and grace of God & the benefits of His church, & encourage everyone to dothe same.
