He saw his rsttornado in OklahomaCity on June 8th,1974.When Dan was astudent, he was parto the NOAA SevereStorm Intercept team. In August 2007, Dan ullled a lielongdream to visit the Arctic. He spent 2 weeks on a Russian vesseland got to see a variety o wildlie and spectacular scenery. Hehas been up close and personal to a polar bear on an ice ow inBan Bay and has hiked on a glacier in Greenland.Dan has a Bachelor’s o Science in Meteorology rom theUniversity o Oklahoma and a Master’s Degree in Earth Science.A ull member o the American Meteorological Societysince 1981, Dan earned the AMS Seal o Approval in 1985, andwent on to earn the Certied Broadcast Meteorologist Seal.He is also a member o the AMS Station Scientist Committeeand a member o the International Association o BroadcastMeteorologists. Dan has been WHNT’s Chie Meteorologistsince 1994.He is a member o the Board o Directorso Huntsville’s Sci-Quest , a Hands-on ScienceCenter, and works hard to improve scienceeducation among students o all ages.
