At the national and regional levels, Ihave advised the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on gender mainstreaming strategies, gender and good governance programs and projects. I haveworked with other UN organizations such as UN Division for the Advancement of Women and UN Research Institute for Social Development as a gender expert. Also, Ihave designed training programs on gender analysis for OECD/DAC and Open SocietyInstitute. My sensitivity and intensive understanding of how donor agencies work, donor requirements and planning needs are complemented by my liaison with representatives of foreign governments, multilateral and intergovernmental agencies, and local NGOs in thecountries I work in. Furthermore, I have found that my bicultural background (I was born and raised in Turkey but live in the United States.) has given me a special advantagein successful communication with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
