VICTIMS OF TYPHOON ONDOY
 NEW YORK – The Philippine Consulate General New York is heartened by the response from both theFilipino and American communities in supporting efforts to provide aid and assistance to our kababayansaffected by Typhoon Ondoy.New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg has expressed his condolences to the families of victims ofTyphoon Ondoy (Ketsana) both in the Philippines and Vietnam and has offered the services of NYC’s 311hotline (as perPR- 424-09
 
29 Sep 09, www.nyc.gov).At the same time, many members of the community have stepped-up in organizing fundraising activities andcollection drives. The list of those that have come to the attention of the Philippine Consulate General NewYork is as follows:
US-BASED FILIPINO COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION EFFORTS
Filipino Community in the Northeast Region 
“Project Handang Tumulong”
, a joint venture adopted by various Filipino community organizations tobuild a “Ready Disaster Relief Fund” that can respond instantly in the event of a natural calamity. Victims ofTyphoon Ondoy, which will be the first beneficiary of the Project.

Ateneo Alumni Northeast, Inc. (AANI) in New York 
The official Ateneo alumni group in the U.S. Tri-State Region is holding a fundraiser for the victims oftropical storm Ondoy in the Philippines. All donations will go to Ateneo Task Force Ondoy, the relief effortsat the Ateneo de Manila University, which is now an open shelter for evacuees. Your help is urgentlyneeded.
