How important the buffalo were tothe Native Indians of America
The Indians were nomads, this meant they followed food. When they got to America after following food around theworld one of the main sources of food was the buffalo. TheIndians carried on there trend of following food by followingthe buffalo around America. The Indians relied on the buffaloa massive amount. Without the buffalo the

y couldn’t ofsurvived on the plains without the buffalo. The Indians woulddecide where to set up and camp and when to move campdepending on when and where the buffalo arrived. One actual buffalo would be use

d for many things, not onething would of gone to waste. A few thing the buffalo wouldhave been used for are blankets and clothing, bone shaped intoknives and tools. Also the buffalo was subject of what man wasmore powerful than another, by what man had ki

lled more thananother. Also the buffalo skull was used for spiritual ritualsthat the shamans of the Indian tribe would use maybe to drawmore buffalo near when such other foods were scarce. As there was not much wood or building material in theplains this is why bones was used instead of wood allot of thetime some examples of these are : Sledges , hoes, headdresses, spoons, cups, arrow straightners and tools. Also otherstrong parts of the buffalo such as tendons were used as : Bowstrings, cord for the tepees and sewing thread for clothes. As you can see not one bit of the buffalo was wasted bythe Indians even the tongue was used as a hair brush! TheIndians couldn’t of substituted the buffalo sources for naturalresources because there simply wasn’t just enough. They werevery clever how they used it all to get what they needed.
