Attachment relationships between children and parents are foundation for child and adult development. Attachment relationships shape children's capacities to form relationships, to manage their emotions, to think constructively, and to be emotionally available to others. Five factors appear to be fundamental to human development: neurobiology, executive function, attachment, trauma, and self-regulation (NEATS).
