Recruiting Timeline for International Teachersand International Schools
When I was looking for my first teaching job at an international school I had my applicationpack ready to go by the end of November. If you think that this seems too early to be lookingfor a position starting in August the following year - the first job fair is held in December andmany international teachers must resign by the end of December or beginning of January.The recruiting season really kicks off in January and February. The process works as follows:
October -December
Recruiters look at what staff they think they will need for the following year. During this timethey are sounding out their current teachers to try and gauge their intentions. Some teachersdeclare themselves to be leaving unconditionally at this time, and this leads to definitevacancies being advertised. Alternatively, some teachers say they are going to look around tosee what vacancies there are at other schools before making a firm decision. This means thatschools also advertise tentative vacancies.At this time teachers are busy updating their resumes - the smart ones are putting together acomprehensive application pack to afford themselves every advantage over the competition.This is the time of year to applying to the international teaching job fair organizers.
