The definite article may have two different pronunciation according to its
position in the sentence. The si pronuncia / ðe/ davanti a parole che cominciano
per consonante o per semivocale (il suono alfabetico della /u/ e il suono /wa/)
The book, the pen, the university, the one-way street
The si pronuncia / ði/ davanti a parole che cominciano per vocale o per h muta (le
parole con h muta in inglese sono honour, hour, honest, heir e composti)
The apple, the umbrella, the hour, the honest man
When can we use the definite article? Quando si usa l’articolo determinativo?
When can’t we use the definite article? Quando non si usa l’articolo
determinativo?
